An update to the Faretext Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to Faretext and we want to be clear about the data we collect, how we use it and your rights to control that information, which is why we’ve made some important updates to our Privacy Policy.

We have made these updates to reflect the changes required by the introduction of the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which comes into effect on the 25th May 2018. And, because we believe that all Faretext customers have the right to this new high standard of protection we are implementing these updates with immediate effect.

We respect your Personal Data. We have never sold, and will never sell it to third-parties.

Why are we updating our Privacy Policy?
To meet the high standards required by the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and have updated our Privacy Policy to reflect that. We also strive to simplify language and remove jargon, to make our privacy policy easier to read and understand.

What is the GDPR?
The GDPR is a regulation intended to strengthen data protection for everyone within the European Union (EU). The GDPR requires greater transparency from companies on how they collect, store and use Personal Data, while also imposing better restrictions on the use of Personal Data.

What information does Faretext Collect about me?
Faretext collects your name, telephone number, mobile number, email address, address, location data, IP address, data provided by cookies and other similar technologies, functional data such as registration and account data, as well as additional usage data, for instance, activity information. Faretext also records your marketing communication preferences and provides the ability to change these when it is requested.

How is my information used?
We use your information for various purposes but mainly to administer your account and improve our overall service to you. Specifically the data helps us improve our products, enhance your customer services, advance our security measures and allows us to effectively communicate our marketing activities.

Does Faretext sell information to third-parties?
No. We never have. And we never will.

Can I opt-out?
Yes. You can, you can decide what marketing communications you receive and by what methods. However certain types of data that we collect are a necessity in order for you to use our service and access your account, as a result you will not be able to opt out from this type of data collection.

How do I delete my personal data from Faretext?
You can always send us an email via dataprotection@faretext.co.uk or contact our Customer Services and request that your data be deleted. Please note, however that by deleting your personal data your account will be affected and in certain cases, relating to ongoing contracts and your obligations we may not be able to completely fulfil your request.

How long does Faretext keep my information?
We retain personal data on our systems for as long as is necessary for the relevant service, as long as is set out in any relevant contract you hold with us or for as long as an account is active. We will only ever keep data as is necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our contractual agreements.

Where is my data stored?
The personal data that we collect from you as a data controller is stored inside the European Economic Area (“EEA”) on ISO27001 accredited hosting services. As a data processor, all of the customer data uploaded to Faretext by you is stored inside the European Economic Area (“EEA”) on secure password encrypted servers.

What safeguards are in place to protect children?
We are concerned to protect the privacy of children aged 16 or under. Faretext services and websites are not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under this age.
